Blue Demon

Blue Demon, the ring name of Alejandro Muñoz Moreno, was one of the great figures in Mexican professional wrestling. Public sources indicate that he debuted in 1948, first under the name Tosco Muñoz, and later that same year adopted the Blue Demon persona. His career was based mainly in Mexico, where he appeared in major promotions and cards, and his image became linked to the boom of lucha libre and lucha films. Cultural and press sources describe him as an early rudo before he later became an even more widely admired star. Among the most memorable points of his career were his appearances in major events and his influence on popular culture beyond the ring. CMLL later honored his legacy through the Leyenda de Azul tournament. He officially retired in 1988 and died on December 16, 2000.
